A quote I got from another preemie mom:
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not [...]

Meeting the Greats – and Ashland!

Posted by: speashill on: February 23, 2009

Ask and you shall receive, right?  Nana Dana posted some fun pictures on her facebook page, so I thought I’d post them here for you non-facebookers to see.  (How do you muddle through life without facebook, anyway?)  We took Becca up to Ashland, Kentucky to meet her great-grandmothers and visit with Nana and G-diddy.  We [...]

Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose…

Posted by: speashill on: February 23, 2009

Becca likes to sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” so when I started writing this post this song came to mind.  Not much to say about her head (still big, round, bald, and adorably Yoda-esque), shoulders (expect that she has little dimples on the backs of them like her Nanny Hitchcock), knees (um, what is there [...]

More pictures!

Nothing in particular to say today – so I thought I’d share some of my favorite pictures from this month!

Home again!

Posted by: speashill on: February 4, 2009

We got to bring our baby girl home from the hospital again today! This time she looked like she belonged in her carseat – compared with the not-quite-5-pounder we brought home a few months ago. [By way of comparison: she is still 3 ounces smaller than her boyfriend Hunter was when he was born. Sarah [...]

All is well!

Posted by: speashill on: February 4, 2009

Okay, Becca has come through the surgery fine and has woken up enough to eat – which was, of course, the first thing she wanted to do.  She’s still very, very groggy (okay, she’s back to sleep now), and her belly is poofier and tighter than I’d like to see, but I think she’s just [...]

Surgery Update

Posted by: speashill on: February 3, 2009

Hi! Becca is still in surgery at 4:54 CST. They took her back at 3 (1.5 hours late, of course), after we starved her for 7 hours – poor baby! She was quite mad at us by then (though not as back as I had imagined she would be – she was [...]

Heads Up

Posted by: speashill on: February 2, 2009

Hey, folks!
I’ve been working on a great post about developmental issues (and how Becca’s development is awesome), but – and I know you’ve heard this before – I haven’t gotten around to putting it on “paper,” so bear with me. I did just finish a weekend leading a trip of 35 (mostly youth), complete [...]

Becca's First Picture

Just How Itty Is Itty Bitty?

Becca was born three months early, weighing only 13 ounces and measuring only 9.5 inches long, after a 7-month prenatal struggle. She is the smallest baby ever to survive in Tennessee, and one of the smallest in the world. And she's definitely the cutest. Technically too small at birth to be viable, today she is a healthy - and very happy - little girl. We still have some challenges and lots of doctor's appointment, but Itty Bitty is a lot of Big Honkin' Fiesty Fun. Enjoy peeking in at our life with Itty Bitty Big Girl Becca!
